Our Hijrah was never a sudden decision or a single turning point. It was a journey that began when we chose to travel through Asia for 1 year at the end of 2023 and throughout 2024.
Along the way, we witnessed lives that looked simpler on the surface, yet felt richer in meaning. In places where people had less materially, we saw more contentment, stronger community, and a closeness to Allah ﷻ that deeply moved us. Those experiences didn’t just inspire us, they changed us.
They made us reflect on our own lives, our priorities, and the environment we were living in. We began to realize how much our surroundings influence us. Our Hijrah became a conscious choice, for the sake of Allah ﷻ. A choice to step away from distractions and move towards a life that supports our Deen, rather than competes with it.
At the end of 2025, that intention led us to Lombok. We didn’t move to escape life’s challenges, but to live closer to what truly matters: prayer on time, presence with family, and kids growing up in a Islamic environment. For us, Hijrah is not a destination — it’s an ongoing commitment to choose Allah ﷻ, again and again, in the way we live every day.
Before settling in Lombok, we spent time in several other countries across Southeast Asia and the Middle East, including Malaysia and the UAE. Each place offered something unique, and every stay helped us better understand what we were truly looking for. Over time, we realized that we are drawn to a simpler lifestyle, one that is slower, closer to nature, an island with nice beaches and less centered around material comfort or status in a big city.
A strong sense of community became increasingly important to us. While countries like Malaysia and the UAE have many advantages, nowhere did we feel as genuinely welcomed as we did in Lombok. The warmth of the people, the humility, and the way faith naturally shapes daily life created a sense of belonging we had not experienced elsewhere.
That often leads to the question we are asked most: why Indonesia, and how should someone else choose a country if they are thinking about emigrating? For us, the answer was never about finding a perfect country, because such a place does not exist here on earth. It was about comparing what truly affects everyday life, such as faith, environment, culture, cost of living, and taking the time to experience those places firsthand rather than relying only on information online. That way it felt less like a decision and more like a natural step.
After sharing our story on social media, we were surprised by the response from our community. We received many messages from people who also dream of moving abroad, but do not know where to start. Questions kept coming in about creating an online income, arranging visas, buying land or a house in Indonesia, and understanding monthly living costs.
That is exactly why we created this e-book. In it, we answer the most common questions we received, explain the steps clearly, and share what we wish we had known before making the move ourselves. We also talk openly about common mistakes and the personal lessons we learned along the way, so you can start your journey better prepared and with more confidence.
Are you thinking about moving to another country, but not sure where to begin?
When we started exploring about Hijrah, we quickly realized how fragmented the information was. Conflicting advice, unclear steps, and very little guidance rooted in an Islamic perspective made the process overwhelming.
That’s why we decided to document our entire journey — honestly, practically, and based on real experience.
Our Hijrah E-book offers clear, step-by-step guidance, including visa information, tips for creating an online income, structured checklists, realistic budget insights, and detailed preparation advice — helping you understand what Hijrah truly looks like from start to finish.
Hijrah does not have a single definition, and it does not look the same for everyone. For us, it’s not only about physical relocation. It is about moving away from what distances us from Allah ﷻ and toward a more intentional, faith-centered way of living.
Hijrah does not mean achieving a perfect Islamic lifestyle. It is a conscious decision to live with awareness, to make choices with purpose, and to accept that growth is a process. Whether it means moving countries or changing habits, careers, or priorities, the journey is deeply personal.
We share our Hijrah not as a guide to follow, but as an honest account of our experience, in the hope that it inspires and helps others reflect on their own path.
